Mori Uri

Spent last night working on a new mori outfit for Uri.  The bloomers are the same from the previous outfit, the top I made from an old linen shirt I had bought years ago at Goodwill.  I *love* Uri in this style even more than I thought I would.  I can't wait to get some pictures of the two of us together.

A couple of detail shots taken with this cool old trunk my roommate has:

And my little "helper." :)  Bear assumes that any time I'm sitting on the floor I'm free game, so he kept crawling into my lap and knocking my camera out of focus.  So I had to take some pictures of him too.

Mori Uri

I've been working on some mori outfits for Uri as well.  They're not done, and I really need to find some shoes for him, but here are a couple of previews.

Coat by me, shirt by idon'tdosubtle, bloomers from a china doll I found at the thrift store.

Tiny sneak peek at this one. Uri is wearing this big, off-white ruffled skirt, and his fairy coat.  More to come.

Not exactly doll related but...

So lately I've become a little obsessed with mori fashion.  Mori is essentially a style that exemplifies the "forest girl" mystique.  It makes use of earthy colors, muted tones, sweet patterns, and layers.  Lots of layers.  It's a fun, comfortable style that I've wanted to dress in for a few months but didn't yet have the wardrobe.  So I did some thrifting, some sewing, and like magic here I am. :)

This isn't a great shot as it was taken while I was out shopping for more mori items, but this is one of my favorite outfits so far.  Lots of hand sewn lace....but pretty. :)  More pictures to come when I can rope someone into taking them for me.

Sewing!

Sometimes I get this sudden urge to sew.  Right now.  I always joke that it's a good thing I don't drink, because my addictive personality would probably be the death of me.  Given how much I've been sewing over the last couple of days...I would be dead from alcohol poisoning comparatively. ;)

I don't have any pictures just yet, but the dress is slowly winding its way to completion.  I decided I wanted to make something big and beautiful for Uri, as his second birthday (with me) is coming up.  Seeing as he is an October baby too, I decided on a Halloween-themed dress.  So far it's actually going even better than I thought it would.  I'm hand sewing it partially because I don't have my sewing machine set up at my new place, and partially because I like hand sewing.  That is until I started hemming the voluminous skirt...

My plan is to hopefully have it done this week, and take Uri out for some photo shoots.  I'd love to take some pictures in my favorite nearby cemetery weather-permitting.  I may also be heading out to Salem, Ma in the next couple of days, so if I'm quick about it I could even take some shots of him there.
