Shopping!

I just finished a big deadline at work on Friday, so I decided to splurge a little on Emmanuel because he has the least clothes of all the dolls despite being my favorite. And what he does have doesn't fit very well given how tall/thin he is.  I've been taking him to work with me on occasion as well, which necessitates more clothes that fit.  Can't have him flashing the entire staff!

I had taken Sep to work for a week as my "motivation" towards the deadline, but I took Emmanuel in for the last two days to help give me that extra push.  Plus, my tech guy is fascinated/freaked out by my dolls and loves to come play with them. ;)  I made him signs each day as well to help motivate him, and it seemed to work!

I have to say though, it's rather difficult to easily buy for a big Dollshe boy.  There are a few things here and there, and some on the second-hand market, but it's not nearly as expansive as I would like.  I do eventually want to get him a suit, though that's a little further down the line (and will be an investment).  For now I purchased him a fun pair of boxers and two shirts from Velvet Tiger BJD on Etsy, who looks to have a lot of great 70CM bjd options.  I'm looking forward to him having some shirts that actually fit length-wise.
I also picked up a wig, a pair of pants, some shoes, and some odds and ends (elastic, s-hooks) from Mint on Card as well.  I think the pants themselves will be a little big at the waist, but I'm looking to try to find a few new options for him.  I shall review everything when it gets here so others can have a good idea of what fits/doesn't fit/looks hopelessly ridiculous. (Hopefully not much of that happens!)

The good, the bad, and the dolls.

Things have been relatively quiet on the doll front for me lately, with the exception of me finally getting the tan RS Song I've drooled over for forever.  Which was admittedly the product of a small "fun fund," a very stressful week, and a 1AM visit to Denver Doll's website...

Which means I now have two Songs, just in different colors. I was looking to trade my WS Song, however it appears he has some damage I was unaware of when I initially looked at trading him.  He looks fine in artificial light, but in daylight there are some scratches on his legs that are fairly visible. I think they're fixible if I wanted to sand him (though I'm not sure I want to find out how yellowed he is), but they're definitely not something I feel comfortable trading with.  I like to make sure dolls are in tip-top shape when I trade them, which usually involves a few different evaluations and a bath before I let them go. And unfortunately he doesn't pas muster. :(

So I have two Songs and a little inspiration of what to do with them, so we'll see if that pans out.  It's unfortunate I can't trade him, but I suppose if I'm going to keep him, I should do something with him.  Potentially pictures to come!

Random update time!

Updates here will be very sporadic unfortunately, as I do not have internet access and probably won't be getting it at my new place. But here is a little update of a few photos I've taken recently of the boys.  I decided to put Nowell back together because I really missed his creepy cute face.  He is my favorite msd sized doll by far, and he's been with me for four years now (as of November) which is just crazy.  So here's some shots of my little undead friend with some bones and bone jewelry I own.

And a bonus shot of Emmanuel I took on Thanksgiving.

Lovely Autumn Day

Introducing Sep!

Some shots of the boys outside today. It was a little overcast, but still a pretty fall day.

And! I won a contest that the illustrious charlietheskonk had put on to create some kind of art about the legendary Charlie. I wrote a little song, and she liked it so much I won!  She made these amazing cake necklaces and tiny cakes for me, and they are adorable!

New Project!

Work is still taking over my life, as I imagine it will for the foreseeable future.  However I've been trying to do some doll work, and some writing as well.  I've been dying to expand upon Emmanuel's universe a bit more, and with Nanowrimo just around the corner, I thought I'd do a bit of brainstorming.  I do have the rough outline of the next two installments of his story in my head, but I occasionally like to pluck a character out here and there and write just about them.  That way I get a better idea of who they are and why they do what they do.

Sep (tentatively nicknamed September) is one such character.  He's part of the middle of Emmanuel's story more or less, though the more I write him the more I can see him continuing on.  I've also been dancing around getting another doll for a while, though not really a whole doll (famous last words of course...).  I've been peeking at the marketplace from time to time, and haven't really encountered what I was looking for.  Initially I was seeking a MSD sized head, but then I stumbled upon this SD guy on MoC's website.

He's actually a Doll Family A practice head, specifically put out for Dollism's modification contest.  But there's still available in a few different skin colors, and I grabbed a NS yellow in the hopes that he might fit either my Volks SD13 body that Ghost is on now, or my Delf body that Uri is on.  I don't love dolls sharing bodies overall, but if I decide I want to get him his own down the road I could.  I'm not even sure what the resin match will be like overall, so we'll see what happens.  But he's got such lovely lips (apparently that's what I'm drawn to in sculpts I've realized) and he was very affordable.  So if nothing else, he could become a practice head if being Sep doesn't work out.

Photo Dump!

I'm alive! Just completely wrapped up in my new job, so I haven't really done anything with my dolls lately. But here's a bunch of photos I've taken over the past few months, as I think today might be bjd day.  (Maybe? Possibly?)

And these are from when I took Emmanuel with me to Salem, Ma. :)

We had matching outfits to!
